Peer Support and CISM Integration

Peer support and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) programs are the backbone of behavioral health support in public safety agencies. This domain clarifies how these programs function, their scope, and where clinicians best fit into the system. Practitioners learn to collaborate with peer teams, offer clinical consultation, and avoid undermining the integrity of peer support networks. Emphasis is placed on integrating professional services in a way that complements—not replaces—the peer model, fostering collaboration and mutual respect between clinicians and responders.
