Equity and Stigma Reduction in Public Safety

While first responders share a collective mission, their experiences of acceptance, access, and support often differ across race, gender, sexual orientation, and role. This domain explores how stigma, cultural bias, and institutional norms can create barriers to care. Practitioners will learn how to foster inclusion, address intersectional challenges, and recognize how implicit bias and representation influence trust and engagement. The course emphasizes culturally responsive approaches to promoting psychological safety and equity across the responder community.
